New Features Of Excel 2010

• Conditional formatting – conditional formatting is much improved. It gives you more control over styles and icons, there are improved data bars, and you have the ability to highlight specific items in a few clicks. You also can display data bars for negative values to more accurately illustrate your data visuals.
• Protected View for downloaded items – Excel 2010 prevents you from editing downloaded content without your consent.
• 64-bit support – in fact, all of the Office 2010 apps offer 64-bit support giving you greater processing power.
• Greater capacity – thanks to 64-bit support, the 2GB file size limit on previous versions of Excel is blown out of the water with Excel 2010. You can now work on files that have a staggering 4GB size.

Backstage View houses commands that affect the document as a whole, or the application itself. Commands found here include:

• Saving, opening and closing a document, as well as creating a new one
• Printing
• Changing Excel options

To return to the document, you can either click the Back button or press escape.

If you want to return to the old Excel 2007 look when you click the Office Button, you can change registry settings, as detailed in this article on Turning Off The Microsoft Office 2010 OutSpace. They’ve actually got the name wrong there; although the registry key is named “outspace”, the display is called Backstage View. I would actually recommend that you don’t revert back to the old Excel 2007 display, as the new Backstage View is better, in my opinion. Although it may slow you down initially because it’s unfamiliar, once you get used to it you’ll find that Excel 2010 becomes easier to use.
